ive been doing cross-stitch for maybe 12 years, i taught myself in primary school (too many in our class so the teacher didnt have time to get to all of us so i taught me and a few others in the class) ive never used a hoop. i understand its to keep the tension even but ive been doing it so long now ive kinda perfected my tension and it looks pretty even when finished. i want to try one out but i imagine it takes forever to do when using a hoop no?

Can the hoops with the screw be used with linen?

Hi Lavinleitrim, There are a lot of people who prefer not to use a hoop when stitching with linen. They call it the "sewing method". It all depends on how you learned. I prefer a hoop because of the tension and I like to work on one area at a time. I do not find that it takes long to change the hoop around. I like to use a 7 inch hoop, but I carry 10 inch as well in my store. Thanks for your note. Julie

Yes. In the video I am using a hoop with a screw. Just be sure not to stretch the fabric out of shape and remove it from the hoop when you are not working on it.
