this is a fascinating question. indeed that theme at 8:40 does not appear in the chabukiani version at all (i dont think), but it's developed quite substantially in the lanchbery/makarova - i always assumed it was pure lanchbery. but there it is!

did lanchberry have acces to this orchestration when he did makarovas version.....the music at 7:40 sounds a bit like act 3 of makarovas version when nikija keeps on apearing and disappearing????
