Testing Doc's Imp Racer for 5 laps at Rudskogen september 2009. The car is a GP2, Fia APP K car, 998cc full-race engine from Reg Patten. At this test we're using the spare gearbox, which was not very smooth to say the least. The brakes also need some mods, but apart from that the car was super fun to drive, and quick as well. With just a couple of quickish test-laps I nearly matched my best in the Mini, so these cars have great potential in their class. Next year will be fun as we're building a 2nd car which is a full Bevan-replica, and I might sneak in some races in that one. Enjoy the fantastic sound these screamers produce!

  • The graunch when downshifting is because you are not toe-heeling. You need to ask an experienced driver about this or that box isnt going to last.

  • @devstube If you look at any of my other videos, you'll find that I am indeed heel-toeing :) The problem was with a worn gear selector mechanism which was easily cured (also note that upshifts were very difficult).

  • From fwd Mini to rear engine Imp... bet that kept you busy mentally/physically!

  • @VirtualMayhem yup, as can be seen in that long bend starting lap #2, it took me a while to remember that keeping your foot in when oversteering is not the cure in a RWD car :)

  • Do you remember the max RPMs?

  • Hi, since this was my first test I took it easy, about 8300 was the max I used. I was told 9100 was ok, but didn't feel the need during these first few laps :)
