To make this video, I cut together my favorite shots from a box of old home movies from the 1940s and 1950s that were shot by my great uncle in Cuba.

  • @osallent .I feel the same sadness as you when I think of my grandparents and all of my relatives who were part of the great Cuba of the past, the Republican Cuba.Everything happens for a reason and eventhough it hurts like a mother we must accept that what happened in Cuba was also for a reason and that there is a lesson to be learned from all of this.if we focus hard enough and we give it time the lesson will be in front of our very eyes.

  • @NewBornpt In Chile children die of hunger????? Kiss my ass you communist pig! Get a life.

  • @wA7racer Go on then :)

  • My great grandparents came to Cuba from Spain because Cuba was a beautiful and promising place. My grandparents walked those same streets in this video in the 1940's and 1950's, lived in a beautiful and democratic island, had hopes and dreams.

To think that their Cuba does not exist anymore brings tears to my eyes. My God, Communism destroyed it all. Even if you try to rebuild it, you will never regain that culture, that spirit, and that magic that made Cuba great. Makes me want to cry.

  • @NewBornpt They might not die of hunger (?) but that's hardly the measure of freedom.

Lets face it, you are doing your best to defend the indefensible.

There is no freedom of movement, no free-speech, no opportunity to better yourself if you live in Cuba.

Beautiful country, nice people, very unjust government.

The fact that they have so many political prisoners says it all.

  • @NewBornpt OK i will criticise Chile too & any other country that treats its citizens badly, but i think we are discussing CUBA here?

That's why this is titled "CUBA 1940's and 1950's".
