"A Sunday in Holmdel 10 Years Ago" was shot literally 10 years ago. So much in our church has changed in the past 10 years. The first thing you notice when watching the video how at 9:15am the parking lot is empty. If you come to Holmdel today that isn't the case, we were still fresh and our congregation wasnt that large yet. The church changed in so many different ways. I shot this video; perhaps the last time Holmdel was the Holmdel that I grew up with. After this video was shot allot of things out of our hands took place. So many people who influenced us growing up spiritually had passed away like Abouna Shenouda Halim Tawfiq, and Uncle Samah Dimian. Others had moved away like Mike Wassef our Head Deacon or Mo3alim. By then we were already use to people moving away like Fady Anis which was probably the first true loss of our church. Even Abouna Ibrahim formally Abe Wassef had left our church after this video to serve with H.G. Anba Sorial in Australia. Luckily for us Abe Wassef came back and became a Priest and has continued in the teachings of all that shaped our faith throughout our years at Holmdel. Watching this video and hearing Abouna Shenouda's voice just brings back so many beautiful memories of me being a young deacon. This Video and many others are a testament of our Church History that will live on for all ages to come. Christ blessed our church and gave us comforting when we needed it . Our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ brought to us two wonderful priests full of wisdom and love one cannot describe. Yet I uploaded this video to share with those that were in Holmdel at the time as I am sure they although appreciating all that our current church does for us cant help but miss the good old days. When we were young the church was still small and we were the entire youth. Of course many of the youth were not present when the video was shot so dont be upset if your not in the video. Im not even in the video I just video taped and didnt think to tape myself. I hope you Enjoy and see how funny we were too as a youth asking Abouna to allow us to go to Las Vegas as Abouna Ibrahim Abe at the time was going to take us to the California Desert to experience the spiritual life of the St. Anthonys Monastery monks. I love how Abouna went from laughing to serious and back to laughing and joking with us. We were so young I think I speak for all of us when I say, I truly miss him and all the rest that are now not with us anymore.
