I worked on this video shoot. In & around Athens, GA. Early 1993 IIRC. First time we cranked up playback, the goats ran away & at the same time the cows in the next pasture ran toward the music "Hey, what's going on over there? turn it up". It was damn funny. Billy Joe Shaver was a totally cool & down to earth guy, Eddie too. It was rumored that Billy Joe's good friend Willie Nelson was going to make a cameo that day, but the weather was really crappy (or logistics, etc) so he did not make it.
Let's get Eddie's death straight ..he was also beat up real good.. he went back to see his girl who just happened to be the local x sheriffs daughter..very suspicious circumstances..
After losing his wife, Brenda, and his mother to cancer in 1999, Shaver lost his son and longtime guitarist Eddy, who died at age 38 of a heroin overdose on December 31, 2000. He married Brenda 3x and Eddy was his only son.
Billy Joe Shaver's debut album was Old Five and Dimers Like Me (1973). This song was the title track. One of my favorites. Thanks for uploading!
