Yes all the comments have good points. How do we fix the problem? Yes to much pop, candy, chips and so on is bought that is not good for anyone. The stamps that are used for all this could go to buy food to fix a whole healthy meal. Stop the junk food being bought with them, did we think that would work? Also we have all the aged whom have very little money to live on, they have to either eat our pay bills. Which would you do?

You have an opinion based on the minority of people. Florida tried the drug testing policy and stopped it because it was not cost effective. Enough people did not test positive. Other states do not think there results will be any different. Also even if a parent is on drugs should we punish the children?

Good system but way too many people abuse it. The welfare program got started by the slogan, "End war of poverty." It’s now doubled in size and is constantly asking for more money; which it receives by borrowing money from china with interest. I felt sorry for these people but I don't anymore. When I on a teacher’s salary have to shop with coupons and off-brands to barely get what I need and the welfare receipts fills the buggy up free of charge. That shit has to end!

After I graduated from a top university with a science degree, it took me nearly 5 months to find a job. I had savings for about 3 months out of school. While my mom helped to support me after I ran out of savings, she forced me to apply for food stamps to understand what it was like for people to live on $50/week in food. It's hard, but definitely doable. Like all things in life, their will always be those that abuse the system, but we shouldn't hurt those in need to get at the bad eggs.

Of course a significant amount of their food is not "healthy". Most people making 50K+ cant afford to eat organic vegetables or even just buy healthier food in general bc it is significantly more expensive. Also the childhood obesity argument is ignorant Kids are overweight bc they are having to eat cheaper and unhealthier alternatives bc it is cheaper to buy 4lbs of chicken nuggets than 4lbs. of lean chicken breast.

THERE SHOULD BE LIMITATIONS ON SNACKS AND GOODIES YES BUT THE DRUG TESTING SHOULD ALSO BE PUT IN PLACE IF U ARE THERE TRYING TO GET THIS FOR NOTHING IT SHOULD BE THE SAME AS SOMEONE OUT THERE TRYING TO GET A JOB ACTUALLY IT IS PROBABLY FASTER TO GET FOOD STAMPS IF U HAVE CHILDREN THAN TO GET A JOB ...........GO FIGURE....WHEN MY KIDS WERE YOUNGER THEY MADE U GO OUT AND REGISTER FOR SCHOOL OR FIND A JOB NOT SIT HOME NOW THEY DON'T CARE '

most of these people on food stamps do not buy healthy food they buy soda pops and candy and snack cakes, i know these things because i work at a store where food is sold i am shock the amount of food stamps how these people use the service there should be a limit on the snack food it should be for milk and healthy food.
