Scene from the movie Stefan cel Mare, 1974.
The chant is played by the monks of Putna monastery, where Stefan is buried.
The Battle of Vaslui (also referred to as the Battle of Podul Înalt or the Battle of Racova) was fought on January 10, 1475 between Stephen III of Moldavia and the Ottoman Beylerbeyi of Rumelia, Hadân Suleiman Pasha. The battle took place at Podul Înalt (the High Bridge), near the town of Vaslui, in Moldavia (now part of eastern Romania). The Ottoman troops numbered up to 120,000, facing about 40,000 Moldavian troops, plus smaller numbers of allied and mercenary troops.
Stephen inflicted on the Ottomans a decisive defeat that has been described as "the greatest ever secured by the Cross against Islam," with casualties, according to Venetian and Polish records, reaching beyond 40,000 on the Ottoman side.
According to the Polish chronicler Jan Długosz, Stephen did not celebrate his victory; instead, he fasted for forty days on bread and water and forbade anyone to attribute the victory to him, insisting that credit be given only to "The Lord."

@ElTomelu Man, i say one thing and you just say what i said the wrong way, you want me to start doing it too? Ok then...
You had 120 000 man in Vaslui and the Turks only had 50 000. That's not a win, you're coward's... you had 70 000 more man then the Turk's, you even had the Pope support... and all Europe was with you... and why did you invade Asia anyway? You just want blood, Moldavian's only want Muslim blood and you start your own crusade's against islam.
Do you like it? :D

@ElTomelu I said the Battle of Achém took 1 day... and the Battle of Cochin months, ok? Good to clear that up, and in battle of Achém... 1 small caravel against 250 ottoman ships, LARGE SHIPS!!!! Ok? The same Ottoman's that wipe half of eastern europe, and we only needed 40 Portuguese in 1 SMALL CARAVEL to wipe them, without 1 single LOSS on the Portuguese side, ok? They had cannon's, just like we did, they had weapon's given BY VENICE! Venice had better equipment then even the Portuguese...

@KingPsycax In Moldavia it happened in 1864, it happened in all Romania, because before that the Gypsy people had the status of slaves in Romania (the most funny is that now some Europeans thing that Romanians are Gypsies). You can go to Argentina or Peru and see native peoples, but that doesn't means that before a big part of them wasn't exterminated. Ask somebody about Tupi people...does anybody know something about theme? NO! Why? Ask your compassionate ancestors, you "humanist" one!

@KingPsycax "Muslim warship"hahahahahahahaha!!Yeah, dude, a serious enemy:D. THERE WAS 140 Portuguese AND 1000 Cochinese !"The Battle of Chocin took months and had 8 assaults"--that's YOU who said that! It took MONTHS not ONE DAY! And it was on the water. This battle is not so hard when you have fast vessels and modern weapons...because it is ON THE WATER and you can handle!Moldovans was on the land, so they couldn't just run away or avoid the Turkish chivalry! There is MORE hard to fight on land.

@ElTomelu We didn't exterminated hundreds of thousands of natives, who did that was the spanish and the british, not the portuguese... you can easily go to brazil and see true american natives. LOL everyone had slaves back there, even Moldavia, but the Portuguese were one of the first countries to abolish death penalty and slavery, when did it happened in Moldavia? Now stop messing with the best.

@ElTomelu In battle of Achem it all happened in 1 day... and i said the portuguese army had 140 man!!!!!!! ONLY 140! Are you blind? How the fuck is that numerous? In Vaslui like you said it was 1 moldovan for 3 turks... in Cochin it was 1 portuguese for 500 muslims... your math is really bad. In the battle of Achem... 1 caravel... 1 SMALL CARAVEL, read this carefully... against 250 ships... not small boats... MUSLIM WARSHIPS! Now stop reading things the wrong way.

@KingPsycax Who told you that you have conquered half of the world? haha! Even Great Britain hasn't done this (they had only a quarter of the world's land). You conquered Brazil?LOL! Are you proud that you have entered with modern weapons and have exterminated hundreds of thousands of natives with axes madefrom bone in their hands?I don't see any glory in that.I see only murder and perverse tendency to show your anger technological superiority, blind rush for slaves and gold...nothing sacred!

@KingPsycaxYou want to say that aid of Franciscans and Jesuits wan't a help?Money,my dear friend, money!Money is a more significant help than 1.800Hungarian and 2.000Poles.Namely money allowed you to streamline weapons, fleet, to buy mercenaries and soldiers enrolled.Namely Christian propaganda /conversion of the natives to Christianity brought you their loyalty. We were on our side only poverty, loneliness and hopelessness. We have not been a super power, but we fucked all over the powers around us.

@KingPsycaxIt was only one assault where one Moldovan must fight with three Turks. It was a fight on land, which means you could not maneuver or run.You could only fight or die.Ship is a fortress where you can hide and shoot from distance,so no need for direct fight to overcome.Just sit in the boat and aim well!In a land fight you must fight with the whole body and mind!To win the Indians using modern ships is just as well as being in Paleolithic with a MIG400 tryingto fight savages in caves.

@KingPsycax You can not compare a naval battle between a modern fleet of 200 vessels and a bunch of savages with hatchets with a fight between Moldovan peasants and modern Turkish army.Moldovan Army: 40,000 Moldovans, 5000 Székely, 1800 Hungarian, 2000 Polish. Against an army of 120,000 Turks! As far as you see, our Christian "brothers" were too tired to help us. Your fight was not a battle but a war! It took months and there were several assaults. To Moldovans all happened in one day.
