Yes, they can, but thanks for your concern. Salt is not a forbidden food for rats; like sugar, they shouldn't be overloaded on the stuff, but a little is fine.

People who own rats are SPECIAL people - other people who don't own rats as pets or worse who don't like them, don't know what they are missing. They are cute, smart, intelligent, little clowns - and they can entertain you hours on end - just watch them! I can never imagine my life without them!

@moonmist5a Thanks for the comment! Both of the rats in this video have since passed (RIP little ones), but I can tell you about them. The black and white blazed girl has a rex coat, dumbo ears and ruby eyes. The beige and white blaze girl has a satin coat, dumbo ears and is odd-eyed (one pink and one ruby). The sure were beautiful ladies.
