On June 20, Penang Deaf-Mute Manmin Church in Malaysia offered its establishing service with Pastor Sooyeol Cho as the speaker. This is considered as the foundation for the ministry for deaf-mutes in Asia. Beginning with Penang Deaf-mute Manmin Church, Manmin Central Church has a plan to plant as many churches for the deaf-mute all over the world as possible. As of June of 2010, two branch churches for the deaf-mute were planted in Malacca of Malaysia and Hat Yai of Thailand. These branch churches were founded by those deaf-mute people who were touched and changed by the messages preached by Dr. Jaerock Lee, Senior Pastor of Manmin Central Church. And Pastor Junghoon Ji, Vice Guidance Teacher of the Deaf-mute Mission of Manmin Central Church, has regularly visited tens of deaf-mute brothers and sisters in Taiping and Ipoh cities in Perak State of Malaysia.
Before Penang Deaf-mute Manmin Church was founded, many members used to wander because they had no goal of life and had no assurance of salvation even though they attended church. But when they heard the messages of Heaven and Hell and the holiness gospel, they were touched, began to pray and experienced changes in their lives.
Through Dr. Jaerock Lee's prayer for the sick transmitted via the satellite, they have received amazing blessing: the healing of various diseases including AIDS, driving out of evil spirits, and spiritual change and growth. Though they are not able to hear and speak, their spiritual longing heart is not less fervent than any of us.
In Manmin Central Church, the ministry for the deaf-mute started when a deaf-mute registered at the church. In 2000, the Hearing-Impaired Mission was organized with 10 other deaf-mutes guided by that deaf-mute person. Later this Hearing-Impaired Mission was renamed 'Deaf-mute Mission.' Deaf-mute members were impressed with the holiness gospel and improved their faith experiencing God's powerful works manifested through Senior Pastor Dr. Jaerock Lee. And a few volunteers have showed their devotional love and service for the Deaf-mute Mission taking care of many difficulties of the deaf-mutes like their family members, and thus this mission has made revivals.
In 2004, the Deaf-mute Mission held the first summer retreat with various visual materials for Dr. Jaerock Lee's messages that were specially made for the deaf-mute according to their level of understanding including The Message of the Cross, The Measure of Faith and Spirit Soul and Body.
Members of the Deaf-mute Mission invited and guided their friends and neighbors to the summer retreat. Among those invited ones were Pastor Junghoon Ji, Pastor Sungdo Cho and Deaconess Heewon Yang who have the ability to translate into sign language fluently. They began to translate in sign language at the worship service and many deaf-mutes could understand the messages more deeply. In addition, those deaf-mutes received healing and answer to their prayers by the power of God and increasingly improved their faiths.
The Deaf-mute Mission needs more concerns and prayers to perform their duty to spread the holiness gospel to the souls who cannot hear and speak, and to bear abundant fruits.
On June 20, 2010, they offered the establishment service for the Penang Manmin Deaf-mute Church. Since then, two more branch churches have been founded in Malacca of Malaysia and in Hat Yai of Thailand. In Surat Thani of Malaysia and Trang of Thailand, deaf-mute believers have already purchased the land for the church and are preparing to open a branch church in each location respectively. In addition, many more deaf-mute believers around the world are waiting for a branch church to be established.
