I do not understand why you chose to compare on these terms: Germans forced to fly every flyable hour with practically no rest vs. Americans who flew for 250hr and then were forced to go home! Bong managed to get himself on the second tour becasue he hated the war bond sales tour AAF made him go on! I see it as a blessing: You fly your hours and then get ot hell out of the hell hole!

@zaostrog i was simply pointing out that in 1940 the R.A.F.......was a match for the Luftwaffe !! if they was not !! hitler would have invaded england !! no one is denying the skill of the luftwaffe.......but the R.A.F......did win the battle of britain !!

I don't wish to belittle the mans achievements. But fighting in the East he wasn't coming up against Typhoons, P51,s, Spitfires, Thunderbolts etc. On the Western front every time the Luftwaffe attacked the Allied bombers they were bounced from above. The Allies in the West had control of the sky's by 1945 and for Hitler it was only a matter of time.

@ex59neo53 same to german pilots.they had to go train rookies as well.respect? read about hartmanns sortie in hungary. he was between russian and usa planes. he shoot down an enemy and russians started to fight americans hahahahaahah. no one saw him.i dont respect your noobs that shoot cows on fields and lame trains.you had no aces.only greedy gangsters
