"On a body as large as the sun, it would be impossible to project a disturbance of this kind [e.g., radio broadcasts] to any considerable distance except along the surface. It might be inferred that I am alluding to the curvature of space supposed to exist according to the teachings of relativity, but nothing could be further from my mind. I hold that space cannot be curved, for the simple reason that it can have no properties. It might as well be said that God has properties. He has not, but o

@lilillbill The momentum of the planet as it orbits forward tends to carry it farther out in space, but the Sun tends to bring it back in to itself. These two factors cancel, causing the planet to orbit the Sun for billions of years.

@KinaNafasi Yes

There is no Time treshold whan object moves with speed of light, Time does not stop. Einstain was confused about many other things too.

Time than we can talk about overlaping Time. Finali in theory we can have object that did not move from point A, so means Time was not involved in object's movement. Since everithing moves the Time is necesary, if there is no Time there is no movement, and without movement Universe would not happen. Existance of Time is real factor. You can call it using diferent name, but you have to make definition about Time. Time is aplicable to te matter no mater what speed matter or object poseses. There

bilological change that we can not denie. In our Solar sistem Sun and planets did change position. During this year in entire Universe everything did move or did change wich includes micro and macro world. If year before 2010 body moves from point A to point B slover than sped of light, with speed of light or faster than speeed of light we can't ignore the fact that object was on the move for so called one year. We can have other object moving with same speed from point C to D during same

To 16 nowhereman. Old greeks and probably other old civilisations where avare of the fact that universe without Space,Ttime, Energy and Mass would not make sense. Means without Time Universe would not exist.Let's do little traveling experiment. If body moves through the Space from point A to point B one light year wich could be for people on Eart let's say jan. 1st 2010 until dec. 31st 2011. We as a humans did become older one year because during this year in our bodies did happen certain

in this video it shows only one plain of space time.how many are there?

I don't really get it...What power is it that makes so that the smaller ball (earth) does not collide with the larger ball (the sun) when it falls down in the pit (the curved space-time )...? What is it that makes so that our planet can pass the sun without getting closer ... and all other planets for that matter....anyone..?

@SMILJANable Time is an illusion. It is only a word invented by humans to communicate and bring meaning to pin-point a place in space. A better word for time is change. So, there is space and change and not space and time. If you travel at the speed of light you get no where because all you are doing is changing your position in space and you really didn't travel in time.
This would also suggest that time is also effected by this gravity, seeing that if effects space; it also effects time. Am I right?

@KinaNafasi Base on Einstein Theory Space-Time contium time and space are but one, so based on that yes Time will be affected too..time is relative remember that, and is changing based on Mas, velocity so different planets and stars have different frame of space-time than ours...
Enjoy reading Theory of Relativity of Albert Einstein

@KurdstanPlanetarium What about the theory (a higgless one) about closed volumes curve space time and its the pressure around this closed volume that determines the mass? This would explain gravity and the faster than light nutrino
HardGravy 1 month ago
@HardGravy I don't think the idea of closed space is a right one, since space is round but has no limit, as much as Earth, you can go round the Earth without seen something called the edge, yet is curved around itself making spherical shape...beside the streaching Space Time fabric is gradual all around, it does not come to an abrupt end by the closed space as you suggest !!

two questions 1) planets orbit in ellipses not circles, does the theory explain that? 2) What is mass?
derfilmmacher 3 months ago
@derfilmmacher one thing do remember this is a very simple diagram reprsentation of Sapce -Time continum, and as such one should not expect too much complication as the whole subject is a mind bogling matter...here is an oportunity for you and every one else to enjoy simplicity.
yes planets, moons and every objects in Space and even on sub atomic particles are in elliptical orbits .
Mass can be defined as a quantitive measure of the resistance an object has to change in its velocity.
