This is a more in-depth tutorial on how I make my Let's Plays using my laptop. It involves using HyperCam2 and Audacity, both of which can be downloaded for free on their respective websites.

Please also note that I've only routinely tested this with emulators and flash games. I'm pretty sure full-screen titles are exempt from this method, although I haven't really tested it out yet.

  • I can't seem to get the sound from my computer and my voice into WMM. The voice will simply seem to silence the game's track. Any ideas?

  • @mrghosty2010 Have you tested to see if the game's audio works without the voice recording spliced over it?

If it works, the only thing I would suggest is either going to the Video tab up above and try to increase the video volume on the left. I'm not sure how to combat that.

If it fails, check your Recording Settings again, rightclick Stereo Mix, go to Properties, click on the Levels tab and increase the slider to the right, or go into HyperCam 2 and check to see if it's recording Stereo Mix.

  • Will this method work for other games as well? (such as BF3 and LoL?) Ive noticed you seem to stick with browser and emulator games..

  • @DANomination I have not tested this with fullscreen high-res games. I'm going to guess that Fraps is a better solution to recording those, but Fraps isn't free. I might test it soon and get back to you on that, but at the moment I'm not sure.

  • How can I "reduce" the sound on hypercam 2 it is to loud

  • @Djedo47 Ah, for that, you go to that place I talked about in the video (the "Recording devices" tab), right click on Stereo Mix, hit "Properties," then go to Levels and turn the slider down until you feel your audio recording isn't as loud.

  • @LordxOfxThexMariosx Well, now it will only record either Stereo Mix (Rec. Playback; I'm on IDT Sound) or the Mic/Line in. I can't get it to record both. Annoying issue.

  • @LordxOfxThexMariosx Alright, thanks. And i tried fraps first, but for some reason the audio recorded fine but video stopped after first 10 seconds of preview.

  • When i go to the voulume bar on my computer and click recording devices and then do the show disabled devices my Stereo Mix doesnt show up. What do i do?

  • @LordxOfxThexMariosx thats the problem i have a windows xp and it dont let me turn the slider down
