The Bee Tree gave us a nice swarm this year. Why cut it down? Just keep taking swarms every year.

  • @MultiHangfire You could put honey in it, but I make a 2 to 1 sugar syrup with Lemon Grass Oil mixed in, and spray the entire inside of the box, before I hang it. That brings any bee in the area in to investigate. Some of those bees will be scout bees, out looking for a new home for the swarm. I also put in an old brood comb. Those two things do the trick.

Also, you want the box to be at least a 10 frame deep, sealed of all light, with a drill hole of 1 to 1 1/2 inch round in the center front.

  • I never knew you could do this. So the bees will just go into the new box and stay in there? Do you put honey in it?
