Missouri has received a $20 million federal grant to improve the area surrounding the St. Louis Arch. The grant will help fund a project that will reconnect the Arch grounds and the Mississippi River with downtown St. Louis. The project will replace outdated bridges and other infrastructure. It also calls for improvements along the I-70 corridor between the new Mississippi River Bridge and the Poplar Street Bridge to accommodate vehicle and pedestrian traffic. When completed, the work will improve access to the downtown area and make travel in that area safer and more efficient. For more information, visit www.dot.gov.
Work on the new Mississippi River Bridge in St. Louis is progressing by leaps and bounds, and the public is invited to tour the project to view that progress firsthand. Two public tours for up to 25 people each are held each month. The 90-minute tours take place at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on the last Friday of the month. Reservations are required and may be obtained by calling (314) 453-1808 or e-mailing info@newriverbridge.org.
