This is our foster puppy a few days after he arrived. I set up my laptop to video what he got up to during the day while we were out and this particularly funny one was recorded. They say German Shepards most resemble wolves, after this I think they have more in common than we realise as he does a full on wolf howl towards the end of the video.

  • @Formula1UnoDEUX The cages they spend most of the day in in the back of the vans when on duty are about half the size of these.

  • @Lyric1701 because you are doing something other than just owning them. Your looking after them and starting off the process of training them for a life in the police force. Also they are all different in character and there are more good times than bad which makes it fun.

  • @emotionalwolfi They've destroyed the garden when left unattended I don't want them destroying the house. That's how!

  • He doesnt think hes a wolf, he wants out of that cage...

  • @Floetenwilli2010 they all want out the cage when they first arrive but hes the only one thats done that.

  • wtf im pretty sure all dogs howl

  • This isn't cruel, its learning.

The kennel isn't too small for his current size

And considering he isn't use to being crated the whinning is normal.

  • God so many people on here going 'aw let him out he hates it' - calm down people! Caging a puppy is not cruel! Think of it this way: is it cruel to put a baby in a cot/crib just because they cry in there? They are not suffering, they are either trying to make you feel sorry for them so that you will let them out or they just haven't quite adjusted yet. The same goes for a puppy. My GSD hated the cage at first, crying all night to be let out. Within a week she was going in there herself to sleep.

  • free GSD !

  • um, don't all big dogs howl like that, i've had three labs and they've all howled at one point or another, also nearly all the big dogs in my neighborhood howl when the sirens go off

  • Poor little guy still has to get used to the kennel. This isn't cruel people. Shut up. Dogs can be kenneled. (You should get a bigger one, or build a pen) My dog had a pen, and she reacted the same way when she was a puppy. (she was a terror as a puppy and she'd eat everything if we weren't there) She stayed there when we were gone.

As a dog she was good and we didnt' really need the pen anymore. But by that time she loved the pen. She'd go back inside her pen to sleep, or when she got bored.

  • @DarkThoughtsWithin Why own them then?
