There is absolutely nothing in the text of the Constitution, as it was originally ratified, that denies women the right to vote - the states did. Case in point: many of the western states (Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, etc.) granted women the right to vote well before the 19th Amendment was passed. Jeannette Rankin was elected to Congress in 1917 (as a Republican no less), three years before women's suffrage became the law of the land.

@dyneadri I couldn't agree more. Women like Schlafly are selfish and only care about their privileges. But there can be no privileges in equality, which is why she opposed the ERA. She's an idiot.

Phillis Schlafly is an embarrassment to conservatives, the GOP, and Christianity. She is a purposefully misleading bugaboo.
In fact Harvard is studying the topic as Summers suggested. DeToqueville's American women didn't have the vote. I hope we have moved forward since then.
If she had her way, she would not be permitted to speak to the public.
