In 1998, I had an almost-two-week internship (or something not unlike an internship) at Flagpole Magazine in Athens, Ga., for my high school senior project. It was a valuable experience, and taught me, among other things, that I did not want to be a journalist after all. But I met some great people and had a fun time overall, and at the end of it I made this video. There was no editing whatsoever; I had no idea how to edit and was sure it involved expensive and complicated equipment that I wouldn't know how to use even if I had access to them. Anything that resembles editing due to the quick nature of a shot was simply fortune making my camcorder battery die at that point.
And yes, I was purposefully trying to ham it up at the beginning and end. I hope that's obvious, but I'm saying it just in case. Also, my friend Mandi filmed the part at the end for me, which is why that time around you don't get to see the thrilling shots of my butt as I walk to the chair and my hand as it presses the 'stop' button.
What's with the overdone title, you ask? Well, that's what I called it originally (http://www.flickr.com/photos/amberlrhea/tags/VHS). And yes, I was purposefully hamming it up with that, too. Believe it or not, I had self-awareness in spades as an 18-year-old.
*sigh* Let's share our embarrassing high school moments, internet!
