  • If you can imagin what strip mining was like then, imagin what Mountain Top Removal is like today with their modern tools of destruction. I live in WV and Ive seen it all with my own eyes. I have watched the total annihilation of the Appalachian Mountains. The coal industry has a choak hold on the region and we are told we have to live with it while they destroy out heritage, our histroy, our health, our lives, and our mountains. We need help to end MTR forever. Click my sn to learn more.

  • Yup, that's right. Black Water by Jean Ritchie. Describes the story of MTR in Appalachia perfectly.

  • Sounds like Jean Ritchie singing the song.

  • Who sings this song and what is the name of it?

  • I lived in Pennsyvania surrounded by the strip mines of the anthracite coal region. It was horrible and no matter what the mining company's claim....nothing was ever the same again. It's a huge scar on our beautiful mountains.

  • The gov never does anything without wanting something in return! No matter what or who it hurts!
