Back in 2004 Mike Stevens of WNEP TV visited my old shop to see how I hand turn Solid Wood Baseball bats.

while I still turn bats by hand, this video is a blast from the past.

Do you use a duplicator or cut them by eye?

When I hand Turn, I only use a Ruler and 3 Calipers, No Duplicator.

If I must make multiple turnings all the same... we set up the program on the CNC Lathe.

I never liked Duplicators, tried 3 types over the years and either returned them or sold them. Most are Junk... sometime just expensive Junk.

I can hand turn a bat in 20min With a Duplicator it might get me to 15min. Not worth it to set up and tie up my lathe with the duplicator.

cool stuff. i made a bat in h.s. woodship - i ditched the requisite class project. making the bat was way more fun. taking the bat out with a friend and hitting homeruns was even more fun.
