Demo of a Max/MSP patch that displays the old Atari ASCII 8-bit character set on the monome 40h. The characters can be scrolled through via the SpaceNavigator, chosen with mouse clicks, or entered with the keyboard as preset messages or live typing.

  • hey i'm wondering what it is you're using to accelerate the bit change or whatever that knob is. and also where can i buy one?

  • It's a SpaceNavigator. Sort of a 3d mouse, that can send movement data in all three dimensions, both linearly and rotationally. (I'm only using one of the six axes here.)

  • it IS a 3d mouse!

  • thanks for replying so quickly! so it looks like you used the rotational axis here? do you have to set it up to control something in the software? or does whatever mouse you have automatically become a default trigger for something like that

  • Sure, why not buy 2 :D
