THE LAST DAYS OF DISCO brings to a close American cinema raconteur extraordinaire Whit Stillman's unofficial trilogy about the neuroses of the young and upscale. Following Metropolitan and Barcelona, this is a clever and sparkling return to the nighttime party scene in early eighties Manhattan. At the center of Stillman?s roundelay of revelers are the icy, commanding Charlotte (Kate Beckinsale) and the demure, pragmatic Alice (Chloe Sevigny), by day toiling as publishing house assistants, and by night looking for romance and entertainment at a premier, Studio 54?like club. Brimming with Stillman's trademark dry humor, The Last Days of Disco is an affectionate yet unsentimental look at the end of an era.

It's not very often when a TRAILER makes you want to start dancing.

Go listen to Krzysztof Penderecki's "Dimensions of Time and Silence" and cool down.

How honestly can you care about this "trust fund" line of prejudice? Art is art, personal details be damned. Polanski may have raped a girl. Doesn't mean 'Repulsion' isn't marvelous. And 'Last Days of Disco' is really good art, despite the vacuity of some of it's characters. I don't understand what "form critique" you're speaking of.

I've heard enough cliches...anything original in your critiques?!

I actually enjoyed this movie overall, some parts were boring but certain characters like Dez and Josh kept me interested. This trailer sucks though.

Having lived through the disco era from 1975 onwards, it seems that every movie about or partially about the phenomenon (made in later years) gets most of the details wrong. First, none has ever reproduced the incredible sound of an actual disco at their best; I guess, because, in a movie, you can't. Then, the clothes - sorry, no above the knee skirts in 1980. Movies about the recent, rather than remote, past always seem to adopt the visuals and viewpoint of the year they're made...

It is really funny tho, lots of well done scenes.. I think if it was called something else with a different setting of time i'd take it more seriously

I agree, this was horrible and I came here just to say that as much as I love the early 80s..

Doesnt look anything like that time, from the hair to the knock off 90s outfits

Horrible adaption of the late 70s/early 80s and looks more like the late 90s... I know all this 70s(mainstream) disco through my mother and could have made a better list myself.. Exactly, I agree with the Sex & The City remark...

How did this get good reviews, boring, bad acting and I could say 200 Cigarrettes(1998) was 100 times better with at least more fun music,, This was like a Sounds of the 70s soundtrack my mother & I bought well before 1998
