Rep. George Miller, chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee, delivers an opening statement at a hearing regarding the Future of Learning: How Technology is Transforming Public Schools on June 16, 2009.
I agree with Rep. Miller. We have to get our students interested in learning by bringing our education system up to date. Technology is so paramount in this transformation. Why don't districts get it? They are too busy playing the standardized test game.
What a sorry state we are in. Keep up the good fight and congrats to the two school Rep. Miller mentioned in his opening statement.
"We're running an industrial based education system for an agrarian society on an agrarian clock."
I hadn't thought of that before, but it really is true. I think Rep. Miller is on to something about getting kids interested in learning by bringing the education system up to date.
