  • @Guli1415 i'd rather do 5 real pull ups with good form than 1000 of these shitty "swinging/kipping" pull ups.

  • Sorry to intrude on all the hate but swinging pull-ups are common in explosiveness training like many cross fit wods. In many mma training sessions, fighters are taught to use their momentum to do as many pull ups as possible. When your in a fight, as an example, your goal is to further the momentum of your charges when going for take downs to repeatably be able to throw yourself at your opponent. I know this isnt fight training but theres slow dead-hang style pull ups and those. Dont hate.

    Who are you talking about? Speal can do 15 strict pullups and then some. And then some more.

    Kipping pullups are simply an movement that allows for rhythm and volume. They're not replacements for strict, and neither are strict for kipping. They're different things, just like running at different tempos is a different training protocol. You do tempo runs to run at near your lactate threshold for longer periods of time than you could sprinting. It is different training.

  • @polishdrummer94 your squat went up simply because you learned how to squat. Your body was fully capable of being able squat more than 150lbs (chuckle), you just didn't efficiently know how to achieve the motor patter until you had spent enough time learning the lift. EX: the human brain is fully capable of developing an understanding of language, you just have to learn that language with practice and exposure. Good work on the lifts BTW.

  • I just don't understand CF. Perform a technical lift, with a light weight, using sloppy form??? And those pull up things? If someone at that body weight and low level of bodyfat can't bang out several sets of 10-15 real pullups, then you might want to develop your METCON with other movement patters and focus on being able to do respectable pullups.

  • @Etrajbe I like how in your last comment you either deleted or realized you put words in my mouth. I never said anything like that. OBVIOUSLY simmers need upper body strength for their back stroke, Breast stroke or w.e, Tell me this what is the purpose of 20 + squats? If your trying to gain Maximal EXPLOSIVE output? Really? ha! Do your research Cross fit Is not for training high level athletes. Its for getting in shape. In a very dangerous way if not done correctly. Learn your facts next time.

  • @MrOptomisticSocal You dont understand human physique at all, squatting or vertical jumps is just a measure of leg maximal explosive strength, and again = top running speed and acceleration. Thanks for proving your insane lack of knowledge, you talk like you'd imagine a swimmer to not be able to do pullups because "there is no pullup bar in the ocean". Jesus christ man, get a clue.

    the oldest in the book, but yet they still work so well.

    i've been crossfiting for a little over 3 months now, my backsquat has gone up 75 pounds to 225, i'm cleaning 200, deadlifting 400, and acheiving PRs almost everytime i go into the gym. i would never be able to get any of these numbers if i went to a "normal" gym. it's not only the fitness program, moreso the community that keeps me coming. the feeling of having a second family, something you obviously need.
