hey that mixers layout is different to the KORG KM202 2-Channel Mixer With Built-In Kaoss Pad ive seen! the one ive seen has the pad in the middle :S

There are actually techniques to get all your chirps, flares, orbits, boomerangs and cuts from the Kaoss pad alone... rendering the cross fader a useless expensive poorly made piece of shit designed to wear out so the market still makes money... I know this because I have a friend in design dept for major brand.
Fuck the cross fader.... thing of the past....
abfahrtranqui, agreed... this chap needs work.... but give him time... he'll tear it down...

using a filter for scratching is like playing snooker with a baseball bat, my friend. it's a nice idea, but it also needs more work.
I don't know if the internal kp mini is capable of memorizing pad motion, but if so, try doing a few filter sweeps in sync with the beat, play them back and THEN scratch.
you will have both: a neat filter effect and much more precise scratching.

on KP Mini it's not posibble to memorize pad motion :/
