Richard Whiteley forever!
- I have to say I just loved the guy and I never even once saw him in the flesh, never mind being up close and personal with him every day for decades like Carol was.
So I can't even begin to imagine the devastating grief Carol must have suffered with his untimely death.
He seemed to have an ageless quality to him that made his death all the more unacceptable.

I don't think this is regarded as a proper countdown episode as William G Stewart also hosted a This Is Your Life-style retrospective which was broadcast immediately after the 1999th edition. I think this is it,
