An American went to India around 1969 with an 8mm camera and visited Munindra on retreat with his students, Dipa Ma in Calcutta, and Mahasi Sayadaw in Burma at the Sasana Yietkha. This rare footage of long since deceased masters of meditation. For more information and info on how to get the whole film shipped anywhere in the world on DVD you can visit my site www.begintosee.com The full length version of this video is now available to watch on Google Video.

The young bhikkhu with the Sayadaw at 1:01 is now well known in his own right as Chanmyay Sayadaw U Janaka (unless I am mistaken). He is still teaching.
They took part in my ordination in 1979. Chanmay Sayadaw performed the role of questioning me about my eligibility for ordination. Mahasi Sayadaw was my preceptor.

I just finished reading "Knee Deep in Grace," a book about Dipa Ma's life, teachings, and students' remembrances of her. How wonderful to see this video of her alive. Thank you.

Simple to say my friend. Not so easy to do. Lifetimes of distraction and habitual energy. Takes a LOT of practice, maybe lifetimes! Meta.

There is something so soft and warm and beautiful about her. So at peace. I'd like to be like that.
