It was Jack Kent Cooke's idea to have pre-celebratory balloons in place at the ceiling "when" the Lakers were supposed to have their victory. This infuriated Red Auerbach and Bill Russell to be determined to beat them in this 7th game. It was a vendetta to win. Bad idea by Cooke, and this motivated the Celtics more than anything else.

Von Breda Koff lost it for the Lakers, could have put Wilt back in, but did not. Jerry West was furious about it, could have been a championship.
Celtics played tough, though, they had a dynasty.

The End of an era, faster game, 50-70's run and gun offense, inflated stats to some degree. russell's last game and 11th ring. west got his only title 2 years later with wilt, who got his 2nd. and of course still the days of no 3 point line/shot, every made shot, in/open play=2 points.
