Dead Can Dance is the debut album recorded by Dead Can Dance in 1984. This album differs greatly from later Dead Can Dance releases, particularly in terms of ethnic fusion. This album has been at times described as gothic rock, post-punk or ethereal wave. The musicians who performed on this album, as well as the EP, were Brendan Perry, Lisa Gerrard, James Pinker, Peter Ulrich and Scott Rodger.

  • For me this album sounds as equally medieval as the next ones - maybe it's some kinda psychological trick, which would never happen if I've never heard the next albums.

  • magic..

  • Amazing.

  • I think this sounds far more refined (IE actually caring if the guitar is in tune) than Joy Division. Plus Brenden Perrys voice is far better as well. Dont get me wrong JD is a fun listen but it pales in comparison to DCD. DCD is other worldly. I wish they made a few more albums in this style before going the direction they eventually went.

  • pure bliss.....makes me shudder to this day....

  • the golden age of DCD. this song is one of my favorites

  • Excellent song of DCD !

  • Don't misconstrue, all of DCD's discography is amazing. Still, I am somewhat disappointed that they didn't pursue this sound more, as opposed to the ethereal/baroque/old world sound.
