Let there be LIGHT! Lewis Latimer, in 1881, created the electric light commonly used today! Before Latimer's improvements, the light bulb had no practical use, because it would not give off light for an extended period of time.
Is that right, blackmiracles.com?
The real facts are presented here, in "Black Invention Myths Exposed - Volume II - Lewis Latimer".
Lewis Latimer invented the carbon filament in 1881 or 1882? No!
English chemist/physicist Joseph Swan experimented with a carbon-filament incandescent light all the way back in 1860, and by 1878 had developed a better design which he patented in Britain. On the other side of the Atlantic, Thomas Edison developed a successful carbon-filament bulb, receiving a patent for it (#223898) in January 1880, before Lewis Latimer did any work in electric lighting. From 1880 onward, countless patents were issued for innovations in filament design and manufacture (Edison himself had over 50 of them). Neither of Latimer's two filament-related patents in 1881 and 1882 were among the most important innovations, nor did they make the light bulb last longer, nor is there reason to believe they were adopted outside Hiram Maxim's company where Latimer worked at the time. (He was not hired by Edison's company until 1884, primarily as a draftsman and an expert witness in patent litigations).
Latimer also did not come up with the first screw socket for the light bulb OR the first book on electric lighting.
Latimer myths have been perpetuated for years, by many "scholars". Even such respected publications as MIT have made such erroneous claims in recent years.
@Ultranothing i believe I said "you guys are white supremacist or nazi sympathisers"
I did make a blanket statement because I saw agreing comment exchange between you guys.So I did say that.Still you give Latimer NO CREDIT

@Ultranothing If you claim not to be a racist that's a credit to your humanity.But you giving credit to @Skulldin who runs in those racist circles reflects on you.People will percieve you as a racist as well.I still think the video has a racial angle. I am not sure if inventions are a subject matter you take seriously. If so, do you know of any black inventions you give full credit to. You see when I saw @phoenician7 I said to myself "oh boy"i know this is a black bashing video.

@Ultranothing I think your video has a racial angle and attracts racist.They stalk black videos and always leave insulting comments.@Skulldini is a wack job just take a look at his channel. Youtube is a magnet for white racist. I think many black people respond to their offensive attacks I just believed that your video was another video to discredit black people. I think that whites truly believe they are superior.You could have left race out of it and still got your point across.

@jayelldude And, P.S.:
While I appreciate your in-depth explanation, it only serves to further prove that, though you may not have called me a racist directly, you certainly perceive me to be one and therefore, Skulldini's assertion is essentially correct.
Seriously. Tell me you don't think I'm a racist. Everyone's a racist, ergo I'm a racist, right?

@jayelldude The title of the video contains the qualifier "black" because the myths surrounding these inventors all refer to them as "black inventors," and to their inventions as "black inventions." They are therefore being refuted as such: The myths had a racial angle.
I "say or do nothing about it"? Perhaps you'd like to peruse the comment section of my "myths" videos and count the number of times I've called out racist assholes for their bigotry, before you jump to conclusions? Thanks.

@Ultranothing i think your videos do have a racial angle. It states the word black in it. Alot of you guys on here are obsessed with degrading blacks. And what happens is the aryan white supremacist gathers in your commentary page .They start spreading racist commentary.And you say or do nothing about it.

@jayelldude "I never called Ultranothing a racist..."
No, you called me a white supremacist: "you are another white supermacist!"
You also accused me of being a Nazi sympathizer: "you guys on youtube are nothing more than nazi sympathisers"
You accused me of viewing blacks as less than human: "you guys will go out of the way to make blacks look like animals."
You said that "[my] video[s] have a racial angle."
So he abbreviated it, claiming you called me "racist, bigot." Seems accurate.

@MDefsquad9 "[Y]ou cant get a patent for making something better than the other inventer."
Definitely. Inventor. And, uh, yes indeed you can get a patent for making something better. That's pretty much the entire philosophy behind the patent process. But it doesn't end there. Patents are also issued for novel devices and processes. They are issued for even the slightest deviation from similar devices and processes.
He didn't get a patent for making a better invention.

@blackizbetta101 "Inbreaded"? I can picture you pronouncing it just that way.
Anyway, I would like to provide for you a definition of the term "racist":
"Noun: A person who believes in racism, the doctrine that a certain human race is superior to any or all others."
You think white women are "inferior." You call white people "crakka." You think "blackizbetta."
YOU'RE A RACIST! An ignorant, hate-filled racist.
How does it feel to be a racist, hypocritical piece of crap, dude?

@blackizbetta101 "INBREADED TRAILER-DWELLING SISTA-BANGIN RAW-MEAT-LOVING CRAKKA SCUM," "PALE HONKEY," "CRAKKA COWAD," "let THIS be an example of the mental inferiority of white women [a comment you posted on at least 11 videos]," "cracka bitch," "TYPICAL CRAKKA LIES!"
And you're attacking me? A person, white as I might be, who has never uttered a single pro-white comment. Has never once insulted you or called you names. You are calling ME a hate-filled, ignorant racist?
REALLY!?
