Mob Wars

My Entry for the Mob Wars ad contest. I noticed that the winners of the contest started with the world of mob activity followed by people sitting at the computer. I didn't go that route because I wanted to use a lot of visual effects. This video I wanted to be about a young, eager, but vengeful boy who decided that if you can't beat them, join them. His description of the different mob gangs all involved corruption and power which he wanted for himself in order to have his revenge for the wrongs on him. The video finished with the boy as a full fledged member wreaking havoc in the streets. I got my Father to play the role of the Head mob boss. His oxygen tank added a level of realism to the video. All the guns were donated by various doners, one of which was a class three weapon. He had to be present during the shooting of the film but thats ok. I implemented practically all people I have worked with in the past on this project. It was a great experience. I had a friend of mine take a lot of pictures for her photography class. Overall a great time and so far the reaction has been well received. Thanks a lot! Please rate and leave comments.

Very nice special effect. What model of sony hdv did you use, we used SR1, did you guys use any special lens? I really like your 2 elder actors, we were struggling to get a mid age or older man to act for us.

Thanks. The two elder actors really made a huge difference. The one with the oxygen tank is my Father. He has alot of experience with voice acting. The other is a gentleman I have known my whole life, he always gave off a "Mafia" persona to me so I thought he fit the part well. Good man.

PS the Sony camera I used was the HVR-Z1U. no special lenses.

Thanks for taking the time to watch. I use a Sony HDV camera. The effects program I used was After Effects 6.5. I also had a professional visual effects artist out of California doing alot of the more complex shots. I'll watch your vid and leave a comment there.

I loved the rocket flying through the alleyway! That was awesome. Quick question, were you going to add a background effect for the group shot a 1:23? I saw the black X of tape on the wall and wondered about that.

Glad you liked the rocket. That was one Jason and Staci(the two in that scene) loved most. As for the X on the wall it started as a possible visual but was used mostly for positioning both the actors and the camera for the dolly shot. I did use red crosses for the green screen shots. Lots of great costumes & stylish lighting. The shots with the Tycoon & the casino were fantastic! And your aged Godfather was cool too - he's a natural! Terrific job all around, folks!

This was very good...the first 5 out of 5 i have given to a mob wars video. The central character had motivation, which i haven't seen in a submission thusfar, and that is always good! It was well-made, i was hooked, and it was a great effort. Amazing job to everyone involved.
