David Barton was the keynote speaker at Citizens for Community Values' spring partnership banquet in Cincinnati on April 25.

Barton is the Founder and President of WallBuilders, an organization that describes itself as "a national pro-family organization that presents America's forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on our moral, religious and constitutional heritage."

See WallBuilders' YouTube channel for additional videos about America's spiritual heritage and the current battle over public acknowledgment of God:

  • i saw a post on AITM about him to and assuming you are AITM i would like to ask. what are your views on barton? the guy is really fringe with the possible case of his connections to neo-nazi groups.

his arguments are disputed by many historians (i put that in so this isn't a total ad hom)

  • @nailo1 Thanks for commenting. This event was the first presentation by Barton that I have attended; I found him to be an interesting speaker.

Do you have any evidence to back up your suggestion that Barton has "connections to neo-nazi groups"?

You made the statement that "many historians" dispute Barton's "arguments." Which arguments are those, and what is the evidence used to support the disagreement?

  • @mountvernon1805 oh, man i am sorry i tried to reply before but guess it didn't take.

on the wiki page you can find many sources for historians that have criticized him. also the book liars 4 jesus was mostly about his stuff (but that book is not a historian so cross-checking would need to be done)

the neo-nazi thing went to several "retreat" for a church that had close ties to neo-nazi groups the source can be accessed in the wiki article

  • @mountvernon1805 since i have to go to work i have to be quick here and will make a more complete response if you want.

the wikipedia article is a good start with sources, and a part about him speaking at neo-nazi functions. when confronted about it, he said he was not aware they were nazis, but he spoke there more than once.

for the historians, wikipedia has qoutes and links to "liars for jesus" which was largely for his work. but i have to now sorry i can't do more

  • The Declaration of Independence was signed before the United States was founded. There in no mention of God in the U S Constitution or its amendments.
