A movie being a popcorn flick (which I love) or movie meant to be an introduction into a new genre or sub-genre does not mean that is immune from critique. How many movies have we deemed as great or wack even though they were popcorn movies?

  • Why must you act like the Lucas and his crew only have one shot regardless of how successful the film is. I expect that from white folks in Hollywood but not you, a black schoolteacher.

  • @hurricanehaynes

i can tell you heard what you wanted to hear with this vid so you can make your points. I clearly said that this film great or wack is not the end all be all for major market black film.

  • Whining that it wasn't deep is pointless. This film was about a group experience, not one man's experience as is the usual case. How deep can that get? Black Hawk Down was a group story with amalgamated characters. Why does everyone expect black stories to be told through the eyes of a single black man? Who cares if you can't find a specific case of interracial marriage. It doesn't mean that it didn't happen.

  • @hurricanehaynes

Who said the story needs to be told through the eyes of a single black man? Not even sure if you listened to the vid b/c i clearly stated that interracial relationships did happen during this period.

  • Red tails SHOULD have been WAY better. Negroes these days expect so damn little. IDK why we even bothered with this damn shit.

  • Why do blacks accept such garbage? Blacks making so many excuses for this mess.

  • My whole thing is black folks are so quick to criticize other black films but wont criticize The Help. Maids in 2011. Let's criticize everything if we are gonna criticize.

  • I didn't see it yet, but I'm a little bothered about the interracial part being the only relationship touched upon. It just seems like blacks are always pushed to be in those unions, but no one else is. We just can't get any fair representation! :/

  • This movie was ok. It's like they turned the tuskegee airmen story into top gun. The 95 version had better dialogue, but red tails had way better action. It is what it is. Like I said it was like top gun. Problem is you can really pull off a story as important this one with top gun- like dialogue. The combat was good though.

  • I dont watch TV so I hadnt seen any advertisement for it...I dont care about George Lucas....I had no IDEA Ne-Yo was in the movie...but I agree some movies are better when you use lesser known actors.

  • @Mary2020VA The Italian woman didn't look like Sophia Loren, but she wasn't ugly. When I think of ugly, I mean Cryptkeeper, Rosanne Barr UGLY...and she didn't look like Rosanne Barr, imo. I liked the movie. The Tuskegee pilots who are still alive to see it, loved it. So if they liked it, that's all I need to know. If anyone didn't like it, call or tweet Oprah, TP, Bill Cosby or Spike Lee to film it. I'd rather see that than "Madea Goes To Freaknik."

  • Black males tend to be very simple.

  • @southpaw2k1 I think the movie might have fed into the stereotype that black males will accept anything white. My mom told me that the Italian woman was ugly, impoverished and couldn't even speak English, yet she had the undying love of a Tuskeegee airman. LOL LOL LOL Total propaganda at its best. LOL LOL

  • @Mhendeb Ofcourse the movie didn't bother you, because you don't know the true history of the Tuskeegee airmen and all that they had endure. I will not support the movie, but my mom and sister recently watched it. They absolutely hated it, and was regretful that they even supported it. According to them, it was embarrassing.

  • By the way, I do plan on seeing the film, just like I saw Antwone Fisher, The Great Debaters, and Miracle on ST. Anna. If not in theaters, then by getting the Blu-Ray later. I find it sad that BP hardly said nothing when 300 showed a bunch of WP slaughtering people of color, the leader of which was a Homo looking BM. BW didn't say nothing and even defended and supported The Help. Yet this film showing BM kicking Nazi ass comes out, and suddenly BP want to complain. SMDH.
