In the wake of the September 11th 2001 attacks on NYC something as simply as the New York Yankees in the World Series lifted up the people of New York City and the Rest of the United States in country's darkest hour.

  • I'm a Red Sox fan and naturally can't stand the Yankees, but frankly the 2001 World Series is perhaps one of the most inspirational moments in recent memory. How fitting for a team with such history and pride to lift the spirits of New York and the rest of our nation out of the post-9/11 debacle.

Also, destroying Yankee Stadium is like destroying the Statue of Liberty. It's a symbol. Hate it or not, I can at least say that.

  • Go to Beijing, Moscow, Istambul, Australia, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Cuba, Africa, South America and ask this simple question: HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THE NY YANKEES? The answer will ALWAYS be YES. NO OTHER TEAM in ANY other sport is recognized ANYWHERE in the world like the NY Yankees. THAT IS THE TRUTH SO DEAL WITH IT

  • @patient451: For that I tip my hat to you! Thank you for those beautiful words despite your affiliation the bloody Red Sox. The same goes for them when they won they Series after 80 years. They did deserve the win. They earned it cause they worked their tails off. It's nice that Yanks & Sox fans can get along after all!

  • @norjak71: WTF! Grow up! NYC went through Hell during 9/11! The Yankees losing merely reflected how affected they were. It reflected the pain in the city. That is nothing to laugh at or mock!

  • I can assure everybody half of NYC was most definitely NOT lifted up by the Yankees being in the world series. Pompous assholes as usual.

  • yankees suck

  • @YanksR5 Wow, really?

  • @patient451 fuck you red sox fan. Yankees is the #1 team in MLB. GO YANKEES!!!!!

  • faggots. every single one of them.

  • @dave5375 I'll take this one, Dave. I am a New Yorker, and this guy is a liar. Not only did they lose the series, they didn't heal the city's hearts. It was the Mets who supplied aid to those in need in the aftermath of the attacks, using Shea Stadium as a distribution center for food and other essentials. It was also the Mets, on the strength of Mike Piazza's home run to help beat the Braves in the first game in NY after 9/11, that provided a much-needed diversion and some measure of healing.

  • It's shameful that you used 9/11/01 to suck people in to viewing your video. I saw about 2 of 100 clips from the end of the 2001 season. If I was a New Yorker, I would have cussed you out by now!

  • It's great hearing this at the end of the Yankee game
