Jiwa Merdeka

This video was made to commemorate our 51st Independence Day 2008 on August 31st, 2008.

I was inspired by numerous Petronas advertisements from Yasmin Ahmad each year, and it was from watching her advertisements that I got the idea and inspiration to produce this video.

That tells why this video might have some Yasmin's touch in it.

In fact, this video was pick as the winner of the Video Making contest organised by the Malaysian Students' Association in Japan (MSAJ) last year. Here is the link to the competition: http://calvin-myjourney.blogspot.com/2008/09/916.html

the message that u tried to convey with this video does not reach the audience so much..i know u want to convey that children understand merdeka better- but just taking mini clips of children trying their best to explain merdeka doesn't quite do justice to this message...and watching kids struggling to answer this question is quite 'painful' to watch, as it's a difficult question and even adults doesnt know the answer.

Yes, if you ask me what "Merdeka" mean to me, and I guess I would need some time to answer that.

@ johnlim2702: Well, the real message I try to convey here is the spontaneous response of the kids about the meaning of Merdeka. There is no right or wrong in their replies =)

I personally enjoy the raw footage and the candid response from the interviewees.

But, at the same time, I can't help but feel that this is a little too biased? I mean it is after all taken from 1 playground in a single day?
