MEGLIO STASERA -- translates to, "It Had Better Be Tonight". Music by Henry Mancini, lyrics by Johnny Mercer, the song was introduced in 1963 in the first of the PINK PANTHER films directed by Blake Edwards. This very hot and clever Latin number was performed by sexy beauty Fran Jeffries, an equally spicy vocalist and dancer who enjoyed an extensive Las Vegas nightclub career. In the film, Inspector Clouseau (Peter Sellers) is among the crowd in the lounge of a popular Italian skiing resort in the northern Alps. Fran Jeffries decides to fire-up the moment with a fully choreographed rendition of "It Had Better Be Tonight". In 1971, she turned-up the heat with a spread in Playboy Magazine and once again in 1981 when Ms Jeffries was then 45. As the lyrics clearly tell us -- "If you have anything to tell me, it had better be tonight. For somebody else may tell me and whisper the words just right! Megilo stasera, baby. Go, go, go!" Popular San Francisco singer Janet Roitz and a ready-to-go-go-go band have re-created another fabulous film song moment. Check out more of Janet's favorites on YouTube: "Now you see it, now you don't" (THIS GUN FOR HIRE, 1942); "My silver dollar man" (MARKED WOMAN, 1937); and "Would you like a souvenir" (NORA PRENTISS, 1947). -- Sean Martinfield

  • This is stunning work by all participants, especially Janet! Remarkable artistic range and all done in perfect taste. Groundbreaking! Such a feat will never be experienced again, at least in my lifetime. For the record, the name of the short and sweet girl dancing with Janet is Marissa Rosenberg-Carlson.

  • You're adorable, Rhanny!!!

  • Well, I'll be an orange wearing, percussion playing, beer-bellied oddball. Wait! I already am!

Thanks gang, for including me in such fun.
