Bovington Tank Museum

Now THIS is what a real tank museum looks like. Bovington, England. About an hour south of London. Indoors, climate-controlled, they charge a few bucks to get in so they have operating funds. They have the only operational Tiger tank in the world, as well as a ton of other tanks in more or less perfect condition. Taken in April 2008.

@leivabernie King Tiger with the Porsche turret that had a rounded front. If you Pause at 1:45 you can see how it's round in front, Compare to the better-known Henscehl turret with a flat front. The rounded Porsche turret could deflect rounds down into the thin top armor above the driver; the flat front would not defelect rounds downward.

I believe the Panther had been scraped prior to getting new paint, it was bare metal. Hard to see because the sun was coming in the window behind it when I was taking the photo.

wow i have only been to england once but i would just love to go here and it would probably be what i would do for a few days at least
