mine barely sings anymore, any suggestions on what should i give him to eat or anything?

Well I always keep a clean cage with fresh food/water.

You could try different food. I noticed mine sings when he is in the sun. If it's too cold in the house he won't sing. Hope you can get your canary singing again!

yeh and make sure tht if it doesnt sing then hold it to ur ear and if it is makin like a gasping noise like i need air then u must take it to the vet to get treament or get it urself if u do not treat it and u just leave it they may die:( just thought i would let u no coz 1 of my males wasnt singin and i got worried yeh took it to the vet now it wont stop:)

hmm what i do with my baby canary, i leave the room and he will start singing away but when you come in the room he gets shy so i take him out on the balcony and he just sings away plus we bought this food called "song food" at a pet store so now he's been singing more.

This could have been a nice video if it was not back lighted. Front light would make the birds color visible. Keep shooting the bird singing.

@albolife07 ur canary is molting,losing feathers and growing new ones ur canary will sing again,it should start when the molting is over normally in september xxx

I have a male canary... named Darwin, I think it was sometime in May that he stopped singing and I noticed he was losing some feathers. Seemed to be very healthy, still eating, etc. He has a huge cage, several varieties of food & treats, clean bottled water, gets veggies and so on. But he has not sang since May... it is now the end of AUGUST. I worry about him but don't know what else to do! He enjoyed hearing your birdie singing its heart out!

Canaries are like poinsettias. They must have cosistent light and dark periods. Whe it is dark outside, the bird cannot have any light source, not even for a few minutes at a time. Friends of mine go to bed at 3;00 am. They want the company of their bird, so they keep a very dark cover on him and take it off later in the day, so that he will be up late with them. If the light is inconsistent, the bird will moult out of season and it will lead to an early death.
