Did you ever think that they are stars because it sounds better than "circle bellied sneetches" or "triangle bellied sneetches"? Dr. Seuss loved wordplay and the way certain things sounded. In your own words, "which likely", "which was probably" does not, even in your desperate reach to be correct, confer "the proof is there". Come back when you find a quote Dr. Seuss has made, or something in his journals or memoirs. Till then, it's "just like your opinion, man" To paraphrase The Dude.
I might agree, but based on it in his genius way, that originally stars branded the elite, not the sub-par, demonstrating the stupidity of the German's reasoning in forcing a people to where a symbol that unified them. But moreover, I think the story simply reveals the vanity of appearance.
Any person of normal intelligence can see, it's a commentary on conformity. How is it Holocaust related? Please enlighten us. Don't come back with a "do your research" comment either!
I do agree it is a commentary on conformity, but it can also be interpreted as a commentary on racism and how people judge based on different physical traits (remember in the beginning how the star-bellied sneetches wouldn't even want to live among the non-star-bellied sneetches?)

This is based on the stars Jews had to wear during the Holocaust.
Do your research. You'll find proof otherwise.
