Hi! This is the first installment of some future FAQ videos! I've been getting a lot of questions through Facebook and through Youtube about the program, what we do during the program, the application process, etc...

This video answers all of the questions that I've received (so far) about NSLI-Y! If there are any questions that you have about the program that I didn't answer in the video, just comment below, and I'll answer it!

For more about NSLI-Y please check out their website: http://www.nsliforyouth.org/
You can apply to NSLI-Y on their website!
And it's on the U.S. Department of State website: http://exchanges.state.gov/youth/programs/nsli.html

Continue asking me questions! I enjoy answering them! If I get asked a question enough times, I will also make a video for it! Thanks for showing your interest !! (:

  • I submitted my Application to NSLI-Y on November 4th for the summer program, and the deadline was today. My preferences were Arabic then Russian and then Any (My passion for languages and cultures is not limited to any one language!) I have studied Arabic and Russian in school, and it would be a dream come true if I get the chance to do this >___<; I think I might cry, I want this so terribly! Anyway, thank you for these videos! Congratulations on your experience!

  • @InoSakuraHinata Oh awesome! Good luck~ I hope you'll hear good news! (: :D And thanks for the nice comment!

  • first, i love how your video ended with you hitting something. that's something i would do x)

second, for extracurriculars and honors, etc, about how many is a good amount, do you think? I'm not sure if I'm supposed to record EVERYTHING in my life or not. right now, i have 13 "activities, athletics, and organizations', 2 "paid work or jobs", 6 "creative work, hobbies, and special training', and 10 "awards, honors, and special recognition". is this an okay amount?

  • @travelinadventurer haha, and Yeah! That is great! NSLI-Y just asks for that so they know that you are very well-rounded. I guess the more you put, the better it is, but that's more than what I put down! So I think you're good ^^

  • @RekaiKyioshi1 mm, must be because of the weekend and holiday~ Well, I hope that it all works out!! Good luck on your application~

  • @elainethecooltrain It continued like that all last week so I finally sent it them an email on Friday, but they won't get back to us until Tuesday.

  • @RekaiKyioshi1 really? hmm, I noticed this was 5 days ago, so did you get it worked out yet? Maybe it was a website fail. If it continues, email (if you haven't already) NSLI-Y!

  • HI,me and my mom are trying to get the forms to apply, but the website won't show it to us.

  • @megan9522 I'm not applying again this year unfortunately. I'm currently a sophomore, and I want to spend my senior year in Korea, so I'll be applying next year when I'm a junior! (:

  • @elainethecooltrain hey Elaine are you going next year???and are you gonna go for the summer or year long???please reply!!!:)
