This performance of "The 79th Farewell to Gibraltar" earned me 2nd place out of 15 competitors in the Grade 4 Senior March category of the Bonnie Brae Scottish Games on 6/7/08 in Liberty Corner, NJ
For a first competition I thought you didn't do well. That wouldn't be fair towards you. You did very well! Try to round your tune off a bit and try not to march so rigidly. Marching and playing go hand in hand. If you march smoothly, you will smoothly as well. But here is the big secret. That's only a matter of experience and that you will most certainly get. You are talented young piper! Keep up the fine work lad!
Don't march like a military piper - make it look more natural, and keep practicing those grace notes. You could be a real winner soon! Keep up the good work!
is this a major or a minor solo competition

not really. there are only nine notes. (with a bunch of gracenotes) Playing well just takes time, technique, and a good instructor.
