In my quest for an alternative serato timecode solution I found djfantom's uca 202 solution but he didn't have a mixer nor turntable in his setup. I researched till I found all the info I needed to get started with my setup. New scratch mixer, used direct drive turntable, timecode vinyl from virtual dj website and uca202. I bought VDJ a couple of years ago to map it to DM2 Mixman and used it as a MIDI controller. Apart from having needle issues( broken needle kept VDJ from reading signal correctly) it was a very easy setup, almost just plug n play. I want to thank cmurder and moretcho for their help. Now that I got that out of the way time for my review of the uca 202. Although limited, I was very impressed with the performance for the price ratio. Sound quality is great and was surprised by how well it responds in my timecode setup. I found complaints about the driver for uca 202 but didn't have any issues with it. Just downloaded it from behringer website and installed. NOW THE BAD...I found that since it only has input/output for only one deck you can't really mix and scratch with external mixer because both decks in VDJ are coming thru CH 1 in the mixer even though you might have different music on each deck in VDJ. However if you had a different soundcard with inputs/outputs for 2 decks then mixing and scratching will work. Overall for learning to scratch and maybe for other uses it is reasonably priced. 4 out of 5 but only because of the one channel limit. If I missed anything or there's something you want to add please do so also if you found a creative way to mix with it post a video response and thank you for watching.

  • How is the latency? I'm going to order a vestax typhoon and wanna use a turntable with timecode.

  • @MCdrivein for an economy sound card the latency is pretty low. with a little tweaking in VDJ it performs just as good as highend soundcard.

  • how do u set up the software to cue music?

  • u got the same vdj skin as me :)

  • Thanks for this video mate, you've giving me a little bit of hope. I recently ordered two UFO202's for X2 decks with Serato vinyls. When all my bits and bobs come, I have a feeling I'm going to be doing a lot of messing around to get it set up right and timecoded right. Thanks once again...

  • @thesimpletonshow are you able to use 2x UCA202 for two different cd player decks with VDJ? like is there way to configure that if i used two different usb slots? also would auto looping work?

  • Buy 2 of these and use Mixxx instead of VDJ. Very simple to set up.

  • @thesimpletonshow Well I've had some slight improvements since then. And the bars are green just still have the latency and choppy sound problem. Also I use CDJs(tt-m1 turntable controller).

  • @gammakrush905 in my first vid about needing help when the record plays forward the sound in vdj played it backwards. when using mixxx it did the same thing. my problem was a broken needle im assuming vdj or mixxx was not get a stereo signal. with new needle i still had choppy/latency issues with mixxx but not vdj. after tuning mixxx settings i stop the choppiness not latency. your video shows 2 red bars in your mixxx settings page. tweak mixxx to get 3 green bars.

  • @thesimpletonshow Check my vids, my notebook has all that "core duo" stuff. So far people have told me it's good enough. Again, check it out and let me know what you think. Pegasus of Mixxx is telling me to give one a shot.
