It think they suspended him for being an idiot. If Montoya were mexican it would have been a racist comment. He could've said that Tony Stewart was having a taco and it would've been the same. Now, if he would've said he was harvesting coffee beans, that woud've been racist!

Griese's comment paints a picture of generalizing. Everyone wants to be acknowledged for who or what they are. I'm Cuban and move to the Mid-west. One day at work, I joined my new workmates for lunch and someone pulled out the customary can of jalapeño peppers to share. One of them said " here you go, I'm sure YOU'LL want some.
Jalapeños are not usually associated with Cuban, but with other hispanic cuisine .It was the categorization and the sheer ignorance wich I found disturbing.
