The Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus honored Derrick Martin during its concert on March 26 at Virginia Highland Church. Earlier in the week, Martin was kicked out of his Cochran, Ga., home by his parents after he gained approval to bring his boyfriend to the school prom in April.

  • @gaysandracists: Your idea of parenting sucks.

"what makes him think he's entitled to their support?" I haven't heard him say he is entitled to anything from them, but he talks to his dad at school where his dad teaches.

"Good for his parents for sticking up for their rights." You're a jackass, there isn't any violation of rights.

He's an honor student who volunteers with disadvantaged people. His boyfriend Richard seems very respectable. His parents are missing what could be a happy time.

  • @freezphoto Ha. Thats funny. Actually I told Richard that we didn't have the money, and that I was exhausted after everything we had done. Did he mention that he cheated on me that night while promising me he loved me? Ah, guess not.

  • @MissDawnAlexander You don't know me. Please get a life.

  • a straight men's chorus would suck.

  • this is ridictulous. he is so self centered. i should know, i went to his school. gay people say they wanna be treated equal but theres a "gay mes chorus"? i bet if there was a straight mens chorus then there would be a riot.

  • this boy just wanted attention for him self. his boyfriend, richard, asked him to go to his prom with him and all derrick said was no. like really!!!! you ask your boyfriend to go to your prom and then make a big national scene with it and when that boyfriend asks for you to go to his prom you turn him down?? like really that just says you wanted the attention and that you are a complete douche bag...

  • The guy is 18 years old. If he doesn't want to respect his parents values, what makes him think he's entitled to their support. Good on his parents for sticking up for their rights.

  • Cochran, GA=San Francisco of the South....ha ha ha

  • @ryansmith5678 Uh not really. My passion can't be connected to negative past experiences. If that were true then I suppose I could assume the same about you since you are so "aggressive" in defending yourself here. I highly doubt the school's officials are being threatened and as for the parents, well they deserve to be ran into the dirt, in fact lower.
