Well, taking the advice I have taken up one of my lil brochure books, stared long and hard (but maybe not hard enough) at a Video Yang Yang got for me and , sat down using four sheets of paper to watch the way the paint works on the end of this brush I have never used.
I don't know.
It was fun as are all the lessons.
I enjoy it greatly to the point of ignoring my precious freinds. :o)
If I can try, many other Europeans can try and if this is my first effort, where are all the rother Europeans who also paint Chinese style?
Chinese Brush Painting and Traditional Chinese Calligraphy.

(ctd) He and his daughter who is about 60 years young said, "In a chinese painting we only wish to enjoy your spirit. There are no guides as to how your spirit should deliver its essences. We see how your hand moves in the painting and colors and observe the whole picture to try and feel what you did when you created it. Your seal and wishes are either decorations or statement."
The Daughter said, "I use mine like flowers. I use many."

bravo, your peonies are very pretty, and it's so nice that you accompanied a poem next to it, in keeping with the traditional Chinese paintings...

well, the master is correct, since painters have many styles to be recognized. Your painting tells of who you are.

Historically, many of those seals are not those of the artist, done at the time of the painting, but are added by collectors. It is one way of ascertaining the provenance, history, of the work.

No, I appreciate the reply.
A Chinese Master, current, one very old Man who gave me my small round "basket Carved" ink stone, some very precious ink sticks of a value I cannot afford and some Xuan paper, said to me, "Place your marks where your spirit tells you at the time you paint the picture. Who alse but you knows what yuour wish should bond with in the spirit of the work or where you feel it best to deliver a kindness to your onlookers." (ctd)

Well done on the peonies. You have a nice touch. It seems to me that the seals on the right draw too much attention away from your flowers. Ann

You are right of course. I was very young in the arts when I painted this. I had only been painting for about a few months. Never having lifted a brush before.
How are you these days anyway?

Hello Neil,
In fact in Art there are no rules at all. It is tending to become a internet advisory group with no clear rules.(many master many rules. I will ask my Chinese painting teacher tomorrow about some basic rules. Art is all about feeling & capturing that feeling.(it's very subjective)
By the way i was talking about the seal positioning matter & not about the flower topic. Your paintings are good and give a good feeling to many people. So keep going & motivated.
