i think mccain meant it in a friendly way but yes its still very disrespectful to refer to a human being as "that one". its as if obama is an object.

I'm usually forgiving of politically incorrect gaffes by politicians, as they're usually non-issues and taken out of context. But damn, when I saw John McCain refer to Barack Obama as "that one", even I was insulted. Still a non-issue, but the man clearly has no respect for Obama. Not sure it's racist, but it's definitely snide and disrespectful. Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed.

you can actually see the insecurity in his eyes while he says it.
Obama has already won, good for you America and good for the world.

That one that won.

I could understand his usage of the phrase "that one" if he had said it with one arm around Barack and looking at him in a truly joking or coy way. But there is something about the lack of eye contact, the conspicuous pointing, the snideness...that just makes me feel slimey.

Yeah, I agree it just sounds bad. I'm Republican, i'm voting Obama. Can't stand Mccain, anyone notice his temper? He didn't shake Obama's hand at the end. No class Juan Mccain!
I am a black man & I don't think "Thant One" has to do with racist. I believe Mccain would have use the same word if Obama was white.
