Abbreviated as UASSO, this unique orchestra emerged sometime during winter/spring 2009. The idea was to gather analogue syntheseizer enthusiasts under the same roof, to practice for a live performance as the opening act of the new and exciting electronic music festival VOLT (www.voltfestivalen.se).

The arrangement and music was written by Erik Möller, Kristofer Ulfves and Mario Pierro.

The VOLT festival took place at 6th of June 2009 in the city of Uppsala, Sweden. For information of the line up, here is the last.fm event: last.fm/event/935709+Volt

  • Interesting setup but the composing simplistic, repetetive and monotonous. One could do so much with all that power; create an amazing symphonic complex masterwork.

  • You are right in saying that the composing is quite simple.

Choosing not to use MIDI, the problem we had to face is that not all of the players are "virtuoso"s.

We could only reharse 5 times before the performance, and never with the full line up.

So we decided on a set of simple rules which could drive the composition in an interesting way albeit being simple to play and coordinate.

Looking forward for more amazing symphonic complex masterworks in the future though ;D

  • Awesome but I agree with REwire. This quite sounds like ambient music with an orchestral edge. This can easily be done using a Desktop Audio Workstation. But with the right consistency, this project could well eventually "generate" masterpieces. @Interactivesystems The style of performance needs to be pushed. It's not the performance that I feel needs improvement, but rather the score. From listening to a lot of electroacoustic new age music (yes that rhymes), I feel they could do far better.

  • @REwire um its about 10 times more interesting than your own work, so get your own synth orch and outdo him then? put up or shut up. i dont think you could actually, few can, pietro is a genius with a great sense of harmony in my opinion

  • Great!!!

    Bravo

  • great idea!

  • just.. WOW

  • Wow.. did you record the performance? I really want that

  • Do you have sheet music for this?

  • This is fascinating.
