My best time attack time was 0:44:00 on the real hardware. Sonic Advance 2 works like this: Jump as short/quick as possible. Don't spin unless there is a booster close by. Don't jump off a continous path as you run through the sound barrier in a couple of seconds gaining more speed (while not spinning). Spindash only when there is no other option. Loop-shortcutting only when there is no other option. Use the acrobatics move whenever it is faster than just falling. And don't use homing attack (worthless game design)(double jumping close to an enemy) . Any path that has enemies or bottomless pits were not designed to be the fastest route. This video is long. If you only came here for the record, it is the very last run (at the end of the video). I am a HUGE fan of this game, for its graphics design, and technical ideas. I am not a fan of what it did to Sonic's future though! I was shouting out loud when I realized jumping off the rail and tracking back a ms in the air made Sonic land just right, in a running position not hitting the monkey, and because of that, a sound barrier move was done, saving seconds :D So, you do know there is still time to gain, as I didn't jump the first time (must be super lucky) on the spinner.
