In DMC3 this is actually Canon. He does stops time for a while but this is a glitch period.

@tokyobassist Dante might as well have his legal name changed to "Awesomecool Fuckthepolice".

This will probably be banned if there's no counter to it. If you get the frame-perfect plink to initiate the glitch off of an easy starter or combo, you are guaranteed to kill a character or chip them out while stalling quite a long time.
Other characters might have something similar, but likely not a full infinite loop like Dante.
