Aug. 15 is a holiday in Vermont, it is Bennington Battle Day, all state offices are closed.

I walk about in Montpelier, VT, the State's Capitol. Protesters against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the future war in Iran were out in front of the Federal Building.

Shots of the State's Capitol, bicycle art, shops, and old fashioned Americana.

  • This is where I grew up.

  • Ummm, you seemed to have referred to Montpelier as Burlington. Both great cities but not so similar

  • Montpelier is a great town and this travelogue takes me back to the time(s) I spent there as a student at Vermont College of Fine Arts. And as much as I am not a fan of winter (awkward construction, I know) no town wears snow nicer than Montpelier.

  • Went to Vermont, worked in Waterbury, Vermont...Lived in South Barre and then to Northfield Falls...Drove me so crazy, left to come back to Southern New England and never have been back...Good luck and thanks for the hospitality, but never again!..

  • Im thinking of moving there (montpelier), thanks for the intro

  • This isn't Burlington, rube.
